Amperos Health Secures $16 Million in Series A Funding

Amperos Health, a New York City–based company that develops an AI-powered insurance revenue recovery platform designed to manage claim denials from start to finish, has secured $16 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners, with additional support from Uncork Capital and Neo. The company intends to use the new funding to expand its operations and further enhance its product development.

The funding comes at a time when Amperos is introducing what it describes as the industry’s first AI-native solution for denial management and revenue recovery. Its AI-driven agents are designed to handle the entire process of managing denied claims and collections, while a team of specialists steps in to support more complex and difficult cases.

In addition to automation, the platform offers valuable insights that help healthcare providers improve their billing processes and reduce the likelihood of future claim denials. To date, Amperos has supported more than 3,000 clinical locations across all 50 states, helping recover nearly $700 million in revenue annually from over 500,000 claims.

Healthcare claim denials continue to rise, with around 12% of claims denied in 2024, resulting in an estimated $262 billion in lost revenue for providers. Recovering these claims costs the industry more than $26 billion each year, even though nearly 70% are eventually paid. At the same time, many revenue cycle teams face staffing shortages and high turnover in administrative roles, making the issue even more challenging to manage.

Amperos tackles this challenge by providing a solution that supports understaffed revenue cycle teams while improving the recovery of denied claims. Its platform manages the entire workflow, including following up with insurers, submitting corrected claims and medical records, and handling the appeals process.

Unlike many existing tools that only automate specific parts of denial management such as phone calls or appeal letters Amperos covers the full process from beginning to end. It leverages advanced AI across voice interactions and system workflows to carry out collection tasks efficiently, helping healthcare providers recover more revenue while keeping costs lower.

“Our partnership with Amperos has helped ease the workload that comes with recovering unpaid claims and insurance collections tremendously,” said Valerie DeCaro, Vice President of Revenue Cycle Management at DOCS Dermatology. “By helping my team work through time-consuming tasks faster and focus on more complex needs, we’ve been able to recover 24% more claims without increasing headcount. DOCS Dermatology is a provider-first organization, and Amperos Health ensures that our providers are properly compensated for the care they give.”

“Denials are one of healthcare’s fastest-growing pain points: a growing portion of claims denied, hundreds of billions in lost revenue, and RCM teams that are chronically understaffed. It’s a broken process ripe for AI transformation,” said Sofia Guerra, Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners. “What sets Amperos apart is that they’re the first truly agentic AI platform we’ve seen to automate this workflow end-to-end, from portal follow-ups and calls to corrected claims and appeals, with no handoffs and no gaps. We’re excited to see Amperos continue to grow its impact for customers. The results speak for themselves: 22% more recovered per claim at up to 50% lower cost, creating real financial relief for providers who are already operating on razor-thin margins.”

“Complexity in healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM) should not be the norm, and that’s why our mission at Amperos is to streamline the denial and collections process so providers can focus on what matters most – operating their practices and serving their patients,” said Michal Miernowski, CEO and Co-Founder of Amperos Health. “I’m thrilled to announce our most recent funding round, which will be critical as Amperos accelerates its growth to serve more providers, expands its analytics capabilities, and launches new agentic capabilities in other RCM workflows.”
