
South Korea will ban the stockpiling of medical syringes and needles starting Tuesday to prevent supply disruptions at hospitals, the finance ministry said in a statement.

Authorities held a meeting last week with syringe and needle manufacturers to assess current inventories and discuss ways to boost production amid supply concerns linked to the Iran conflict, according to the industry ministry.
Disruptions to oil and petrochemical supplies have driven up plastic prices used in medical equipment and packaging, raising concerns about stock shortages and hoarding.
