  • Heart Failure is a complex and a serious condition in which the ability of the heart to pump blood gets compromised. This happens when the heart is not able to pump oxygen and essential nutrients to the body. High blood pressure can be one of the major causes of heart failure as it can strain the heart over a period of time which causes it to thicken and weaken. And this workload leads to heart failure. 
  • Arrhythmias is the disturbance in the electrical system of the heart which leads to the abnormal heart rhythmic functioning. These irregular heart beats can be caused in many ways:- tachycardia in this particular condition the heart beats too fast. This causes palpitations, dizziness, and in severe cases fainting and chest pain. Bradycardia is opposite to tachycardia as in this condition the heat beats are very slow which leads to fatigue, dizziness, and even the loss of consciousness.
  • Valvular Heart Disease affects the valves of the heart which controls the blood flow within the heart. When these valves get damaged and are not working in their original way then this disrupts the blood flow which leads to the various symptoms and complications. Aortic stenosis gets narrowed, obstructing blood to flow from the left ventricle to the aorta. This leads to extreme chest pain and can also further lead to heart failure. Mitral valve regurgitation if the martial valve does not close tightly the blood flows back to the left atrium. Mitral stenosis if the mitral valve narrows then the obstructing blood flows from the left atrium to the left ventricle.

  • Unhealthy lifestyle choices- Smoking is one of the leading causes of heart disease. The toxins in the tobacco smoke damages the blood vessels, it reduces the oxygen in the blood, and increases the formation of clots in the blood which will contribute to heart diseases. Poor diet if you are someone who is taking a rich diet in saturated and trans fats which elevates the LDL cholesterol levels in the blood. LDL is the primary source in the development of the plague information which blocks the arteries of the heart, restricting the blood flow. Lack of physical activity and an inactive lifestyle can cause you to gain weight and can also lead to obesity which is also one of the most common risk factors in getting heart diseases. Regular physical activity helps in keeping up with the healthy weight, which strengthens the heart and also improves the blood circulation.
  • High blood pressure- Consistent high blood pressure can cause a lot of damage to the arteries. They become stiff and narrow, which reduces the ability in delivering oxygen- rich blood to the most important organs of the body including heart. Hypertension also forces the heart in working harder to pump blood leading to an enlarged heart muscle. 
  • High cholesterol levels– LDL cholesterol can infiltrate the inner lining of the arteries, where it gets oxidized and triggers inflammation. The buildup of the plague can lead to atherosclerosis, a condition in which the arteries get hard and narrowed. Which increases the risk of getting a heart attack and stroke.
  • Diabetes- High sugar levels in the blood known as diabetes can damage blood vessels throughout the body including the ones that take it to the brain and heart. It can also lead to a condition in which the nerves get damaged and also may fail in controlling the heart’s beats in an effective manner.

  • Regular physical activity– Try to workout for at least 150 minutes weekly. Combine high intensity and moderate intensity workouts in your daily routine. Daily workout will help in strengthening the muscles of the heart. 
  • Smoking cessation- By quitting smoking can be one of the most important and profound testament in embarking this journey of keeping our heart healthy. 
  • Regular check ups– It is very important for us to get ourselves checked on a regular basis for our own well-being. Because many times symptoms of the problem are not that prominent at the early stages. And by embracing the early detection and intervention can save us from losing our lives.
  • Medication– If you are someone who is already suffering from heart diseases then you need to be very committed in taking them on time as prescribed by the doctor. These medications work as a silent companion to your heart in reinforcing the hearts strength.
